Gien 吉祥镇自古就是个人文荟萃的地方, 尤受文艺复兴运动影响最深. 18世纪成为法国的陶艺中心, 以精湛的工艺技术及深刻的人文精神推动艺术品的创作, 尤其为当时的皇室贵族与达官贵族 所喜爱. 许多贵族甚至将家徽直接设计在餐具上. 1821年, Gien 获颁与该镇同名, 正式承继了法国陶艺文化的后冠. 吉祥镇新古典 彩陶, 融合古典陶艺与现代设计及技法, 被誉为"餐桌钻" "小王子"为法国作家圣修伯理(Antoine de Saint -Exupery)于1943 年的创作,为世界性的畅销作品. 在法国, 为庆祝"小王子"50周年, 法国政府以其作者的肖像及书中第二页插图为法郎50元纸币的图案，而照片中杯子上的图案为"观看日落的小王子"，杯子的另一边为"小王子与狐狸"
